Attention High School Seniors
You’ve made it to your last year of high school and are about to embark on your new journey in life. Have you figured out your path or waiting for doors to open? Now is the time to start planning and setting goals for your success. Are you going into a trade, furthering your education, or starting a business of your own? These decisions can be mind boggling at first, but they can start to make sense once you explore your options. A good place to start is volunteer work in a field that interests you. This can introduce you to people in the field and open doors for you.
If you plan on furthering your education, check out schools that specialize in your interest. College can be expensive and it pays to checkout financial aid (FAFSA) and scholarships available to you ahead of the cutoff dates! For those seniors living in the Cronomer Valley Fire District we offer local scholarships to deserving students. Apply for one of our scholarships before May 1st below.
The volunteer fire service is also a good place to start. You will network with people from all walks of life and gain valuable life lessons to help you on your journeys. There are also other educational opportunities and college tuition assistance available for NY active duty firefighters. Check with your local volunteer fire department to learn more!
